Dr. Heather Smale graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2017, after completing both an Honours Bachelor of Science and Master of Science at the University of Guelph. After obtaining her DVM, Dr. Smale completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at the VEC, followed by a specialty internship in anesthesia. During her anesthesia internship, she also worked as a locum Emergency Veterinarian. She went on to the University of Georgia, and a three-year residency in Anesthesia and Analgesia, which she finished in 2022. Dr. Smale is excited to be back in Canada (especially for winter), and to be returning to the VEC.
Dr. Smale is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia.
